Tech skills shortages?

Tech skills shortages? – well using the number of JSA claimants seeking tech jobs as an indicator at least, the available labour pool seems to have taken a hammering in recent years for sure: There were 2,135 JSA claimants seeking work as Tech specialists during the second quarter of 2018 – a drop of 8% on the previous quarter and 26% on the previous year. By comparison the overall number of JSA claimants across the UK was seen to fall by a much lower amount – 3% quarter on quarter and 10% over the Q2-17-Q2.18 period. By devolved nation/region, the largest quarterly falls in the number of JSA claimants seeking tech jobs were recorded in; the South West (▼ 13%), Northern Ireland (▼12%) and the East of England (▼10%). The largest annual falls instead were observed for the South West (▼35%), the North West (▼30%) and the East Midlands (▼29%).
