Diversity and gender in legal – pretty good if you don’t plan on working as a barrister or a judge

Data for 2017 from the ONS Labour Force Survey shows that of the 301,000 people working in legal roles during 2017, 58% were women – well above the figure for workers as a whole (47%). That said, amongst the more senior positions i.e. judges/barristers, the level of representation for women was much lower at just 40%.
