Looking at the FS sector/it’s importance to the UK it is noted that though there are plenty of reports on the industry vertical, there’s not so much on the people working in finance jobs more generally (i.e. inside/outside the FS sector) – so as a heads up – the number of people working in financial occupations in the UK topped 1.9m in 2017 – up 4% on the previous year (that’s compared with a growth rate of just 1.2% for all occupational groups). and, the biggest YoY changes (increases) in finance occupations were recorded for; Pensions/insurance clerks & assistants (up 18%), Book Keepers/equivalent (up 16%), and Finance Officers (up 14%). By comparison, the number of Chartered accountants in the workforce was seen to fall by 10% over the 2016-17 period.
