Diversity in the labour market?

Diversity in the labour market? – we hear a lot about IT and Engineering (well I do as I look at this for a living) but consider also – women are better drivers than men (or not, I have no idea really but assume so as the insurance premiums are lower) – so why is it that, of the 1.1m people in the UK that had a ‘driving job’ in 2017 (crane drivers, large goods vehicle drivers, fork-lift truck drivers, aircraft pilots/flight engineers, mobile machine drivers/operatives, train/tram drivers, taxi/cab drivers, and chauffeurs and van drivers) – only 4% were women, and even in the profession with the highest representation of women (bus and coach drivers surprisingly) women only accounted for 11% of the workforce? (all stats from the ONS Labour Force Survey analysed in house).
